Copycat Crunchwrap Supreme is the best way to get all the flavor you love about the Taco Bell favorite and then some! Filled with ground meat, beans, lettuce, tomato, cheese, and more, this copycat Crunchwrap Supreme is just as fantastic as its name implies. They might not be as pretty but they are just as delicious.

I’m going to let you in on a little secret – Taco Bell is one of our guilty pleasures around here. I shouldn’t love Mexican food that is really only Mexican in name, but here’s the thing. One of my favorite thing on their menu is the Crunchwrap Supreme. All of the delicious ingredients in that thing come together to create something that’s really special. Is it really Mexican food? Not really. Is it delicious? Yes!

Copycat Crunchwrap Supreme

This delicious homemade take on the Taco Bell classic was born when I decided that I could do just as good a job, if not better, than Taco Bell at making this handheld feast.

After all, homemade is always better than bought, and I’ve got the cooking chops to make it work. I am so glad I tried my hand at it! I ended up with something that is so darn good, I can’t keep it in the house!

Whenever I make up these Crunchwrap Supremes, they go fast. I mean really fast. In fact, I never have leftovers. I’m fine with that because these are the best on the day that they’re made.

All that beef, onion, beans, cheese, lettuce, tomato, sour cream, and two kinds of tortillas come together to create something that is truly greater than the sum of its parts.

Making this copycat Crunchwrap Supreme takes a bit of effort, but it’s well worth it. Sure, you have to brown up the meat, heat up the refried beans, and then put the entire thing together, but the work is minimal compared to some recipes. And the taste? Oh boy. Well, it’s amazing.

Tips

There aren’t many tips for this recipe. Although you have to do a little browning and some construction when it comes to putting the recipe together, there’s really not much to it. It’s a very straightforward recipe. However, the tips that are here are important so don’t skip them.

Tostada Shells

When choosing your hard shells, make sure you pick the ones that you’d make tostadas with. These are best suited for being placed with all the meat and toppings. They’ll retain their crunchiness better.

Folding the Copycat Crunchwrap Supreme

When it’s time to fold up the tortilla, place your quarter of a flour tortilla directly in the center of the Crunchwrap on top of the meat mixture and then fold the edges of the bottom tortilla up and over on top of the center tortilla piece.

Also, you can add a little oil to the frying pan if you’d like, but for this recipe, no oil was used and each were browned in a non stick frying pan.

Variations

This copycat Crunchwrap Supreme is pretty much perfect just as it is, but you can make little tweaks to make a personalized version for your family. There are a few things you can change to make it a little different each and every time.

Add Some Heat

If you’re a fan of heat, feel free to add sliced jalapeno peppers or cayenne pepper flakes to your beef when you cook it. It will add an extra layer of flavor and a nice punch of heat.

Change the Cheese

This recipe calls for cheddar cheese, but feel free to use whatever cheese you like. I’m a big fan of yellow cheeses for this recipe. So think any of the cheddars, Colby, etc. A taco or Mexican blend works really well, too.

Leave out the Beans

I have a friend who just hates refried beans, so if she’s over when I make these, I simply leave them off of her wrap. You can do the same for anyone who doesn’t like the flavor and/or texture of refried beans.

Serving Copycat Crunchwrap Supremes

This dish is perfect for a weeknight meal, a weekend bash, potlucks, or just about any occasion. No one ever says no to them, and they’re not difficult to make. Simply whip up a batch prior to heading out, and you’ll arrive with hot, toasty goodness that everyone loves.

Storing the Crunchwraps

You can store these Crunchwraps in the fridge for up to four days in an air-tight container. Be aware, however, that they’re best served fresh. Over time, the crunchy tortillas inside the wrap will soften, and tomatoes are never as good when they’re refrigerated. These Crunchwraps will still be pretty good, but they’ll only be a shadow of their former glory.

It’s full of everything we all love about the Taco Bell version and then some. In fact, I’ll go so far as to say it’s miles better. So give it a try. You’ll be glad you did!
