These brownie bites take all the fudgy, chocolaty flavor of full-sized brownies and shrinks them down into a fun-size treat perfect for desserts, snacking, or parties. Made with Special Dark cocoa powder, these brownies are intensely chocolaty, and oh, so good!

When you need a delicious, crowd-pleasing treat, there’s nothing better than brownies. These classic bars have been around for longer than any of us can remember, and there’s a reason for that. They never go out of style!

I remember eagerly bolting for fresh brownies as a kid. I couldn’t get enough of them, and I made them all the time when my kids were at home, too. Even now, I make them frequently for myself and my guy.

No matter who you are, you probably love brownies. Now you can love them in a fun little package with these mini brownies. They’re bite-sized but loaded with full-sized chocolate flavor. And, here are a few more delicious brownie recipes you might enjoy as well. This chocolate brownie pudding cake is always a favorite and how about these cosmic brownie cookies. They are absolutely delicious and full of nostalgia.

What I Love About the Recipe

  • These brownies are rich and fudgy, just like their full-sized counterparts.
  • It’s an easy recipe that takes very little work.
  • It only takes a few simple ingredients to make these brownies, and most of them are in your kitchen right now.
  • Special Dark cocoa powders gives them intense chocolate flavor that really pops with every bite.

Ingredients for Brownie Bites

  • Butter: Butter gives the brownies the fat they need for their moist texture and rich flavor.
  • Special Dark Cocoa Powder: Special Dark cocoa powder has deep, dark color and super-rich chocolate flavor.
  • Eggs: Eggs act as a binder and add more moisture and fat to the brownies, further enhancing their texture.

See the recipe card at the end of the post for a full list of ingredients and their exact measurements.

Variations

  • Chopped nuts are a classic addition to any brownie.
  • Add Reese’s Pieces for delicious peanut butter chip brownies.
  • Frost your brownies with chocolate buttercream frosting for even more sweet, chocolate flavor.

How to Make Brownie Bites

  • Step 1: Preheat the oven to 350 degrees and spray a mini brownie pan (1-inch squares) with nonstick cooking spray. Set aside.
  • Step 2: Whisk the dry ingredients together in a small bowl and set aside.
  • Step 3: Melt the butter in a large, microwave-safe bowl. Then, mix it with the sugars.
  • Step 4: Add the eggs and vanilla to the butter mixture and mix well.
  • Step 5: Add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and mix until the dry ingredients are just incorporated.
  • Step 6: Pour the batter into the pan and bake for 10 to 15 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out mostly clean.
  • Step 7: Cool the brownies completely, dust them with powdered sugar, and enjoy!

How to Store Leftovers

Store these brownie bites in an air-tight container at room temperature for up to a week. For longer storage, wrap them individually in plastic wrap and freeze them for up to 3 months in an air-tight, freezer-safe container or heavy-duty freezer bag.

Tips & Tricks

  • To get the right texture for these brownies, it’s important to melt the butter rather than just soften it.
  • Let the butter mixture cool until it’s just warm before mixing in the eggs. You don’t want them to scramble.
  • Mix your dry and wet ingredients until just combined. This will keep your cupcakes moist and tender, rather than dense.

How to Serve Brownie Bites

Serve these brownie bites with a glass of milk or a cup of coffee or tea. You can also use them as a delicious addition to your next bowl of ice cream!

Frequently Asked Questions

What is Special Dark cocoa powder?

Special Dark cocoa powder is a variation of Dutched cocoa powder sold by Hershey’s. This cocoa has been alkalized far more heavily than regular Dutch cocoa, creating a very dark color and deep chocolate flavor with no bitterness.

What does just combined mean?

Just combined is a baking term that means all the dry and wet ingredients have been mixed until the dry ingredients are moistened and incorporated but not smooth. This is especially important for baked goods because overmixing can lead to excess gluten, making baked products tough and dense.

How do you keep brownies moist?

First and foremost, store them in an air-tight container at room temperature. NEVER refrigerate them. The cold air will dry them out. You should also place a piece of white bread in the container with the brownies. The moisture from the bread slice will keep the brownies moist.

Why can’t you refrigerate brownies?

Brownies don’t require refrigeration to stay fresh. In fact, the cold air from the refrigerator will dry them out, making them crumbly, dry, and bland.
