I’ve always loved the flavor combination of fruit and cream cheese found in pastries. I’m also a big fan of crescent rings. I think they’re super fun, and they’re always a hit at parties and gatherings. I combined those two to create the ultimate sweet treat for breakfast, brunch, snacking, dessert, or parties – my strawberry cream cheese pastry ring. This delicious treat is full of the classic flavors and textures of pastries, but I serve it in a crescent ring form, so everyone can simply grab a piece as they mingle. This delicious pastry ring starts with crescent roll triangles that I arrange in the classic crescent ring shape. Then, I fill the ring with a sweet cream cheese mixture and strawberry filling. I fold the triangles over to create a crescent ring and bake until golden, and flaky. I let it cool for a few minutes and top it with a simple glaze. That’s all there is to it. It’s a quick and easy pastry ring filled with sweet, tangy pastry flavors that makes a delicious treat for almost any occasion.

Crescent Ring

  • Pillsbury refrigerated crescent rolls

Strawberry Filling

  • Fresh strawberries
  • Granulated sugar
  • Lemon juice
  • Water
  • Cornstarch

Cream Cheese Filling

  • Cream cheese
  • Granulated sugar
  • Egg yolk
  • Lemon juice
  • Vanilla extract

Glaze Drizzle

  • Powdered sugar
  • Whole milk

How to Make Strawberry Cream Cheese Pastry

Making this pastry is as easy as gathering up the ingredients. The strawberry filling and cream cheese filling are both incredibly simple, and constructing the ring is equally easy. You’ll be in and out of the kitchen in just a few minutes!

Step 1: Prep

Preheat the oven to 375 degrees.

Step 2: Make the Strawberry Filling

Add the strawberries, sugar, 3 tablespoons of water, and lemon juice to a small saucepan. Stir and cook over low heat until the strawberries have cooked down and a sauce begins to form. Combine the remaining cornstarch and water and stir into the strawberry mixture. Continue stirring until the mixture has thickened and set aside to cool.

Step 3: Make the Cream Cheese Filling

Beat the cream cheese for 2 to 3 minutes until fluffy. Then, add the sugar, egg yolk, vanilla, and lemon juice. Beat for another 2 minutes or until all the ingredients are well combined.

Step 4: Prepare the Crescent Ring

Unroll the crescent rolls and separate the precut triangles. Place the triangles on an ungreased baking sheet with the wider ends of the triangles in the center and overlapping enough to create a base.

Step 5: Fill

Spread the cream cheese mixture evenly over the wide part of the crescent ring. Then, spoon the strawberry filling on top of the cream cheese mixture.

Step 6: Fold

Fold the triangles over the filling, tucking the points under the wider part to securely form the ring.

Step 7: Bake

Bake for 20 to 22 minutes or until golden brown. Remove the crescent ring from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes.

Step 8: Glaze

Combine the powdered sugar and milk in a small mixing bowl, whisking until fully combined. Then, drizzle the glaze over the slightly cooled pastry ring. Enjoy!

Ingredients
  

  • 2 containers Pillsbury refrigerated crescent rolls

Strawberry Filling

  • 2 cups fresh strawberries, quartered
  • ⅓ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice
  • 7 tablespoons water, divided
  • 3 tablespoons cornstarch

Cream Cheese Mixture

  • 8 ounces cream cheese, room temperature
  • ⅓ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Glaze Drizzle

  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons milk

Instructions
 

  • Preheat the oven to 375 degrees.

Strawberry Filling

  • In a small saucepan over low heat, add strawberries, sugar, 3 tablespoons water, and lemon juice. Stir to combine and cook until strawberries have cooked down and a sauce starts to form.
  • In a small bowl, combine remaining water with cornstarch. Add to strawberry mixture and stir to combine.
  • Continue stirring until the strawberry mixture has thickened. Set aside to cool.

Cream Cheese Mixture

  • In a medium mixing bowl, beat cream cheese until fluffy (about 2-3 minutes).
  • Add sugar, egg yolk, vanilla, and lemon juice. Beat for an additional 2 minutes, or until all ingredients are well combined.
  • Unroll crescent rolls and separate into pre cut triangles.
  • Place triangles on an ungreased baking sheet so the wider end of roll is in the center, forming a circle with about a 5 inch opening in the center. When forming the circle, the wider ends of the crescent rolls will overlap.
  • Spread cream cheese mixture over the wide part of the crescent rolls.
  • Spoon strawberry filling on top of cream cheese mixture.
  • Fold the small tip of each crescent roll over and tuck tip under the wider part to secure forming the ring.
  • Bake in a preheated oven for 20-22 minutes or until golden brown.
  • Remove from the oven and let cool for a few minutes.

Glaze Drizzle

  • In a small mixing bowl, combine powdered sugar and milk. Whisk until fully combined and desired consistency is reached.
  • Drizzle glaze over cooled pastry ring.
