I love fudge any time of year, and I make it for pretty much any occasion, from birthday parties to potlucks or holiday gatherings. And why not? I can’t think of anyone who doesn’t love fudge. One of my favorite fudge recipes to make is this espresso toffee fudge. It’s a great, all-purpose fudge recipe that’s at home at any type of gathering and all holidays from Easter to Christmas, and whatever holidays you celebrate. It’s also easy with a capital EZ, which is always a great bonus!

Espresso Toffee Fudge

This delicious fudge recipe starts with a mix of evaporated milk, sugar, butter, and espresso powder. I boil it for a few minutes, then I add marshmallows and chocolate chips to complete the flavor profile. Then, I spread it in an even layer in a baking dish and top it with toffee bits and drizzle chocolate melting wafers over the top. That’s all there is to it! It only takes about 30 minutes, and when I’m all down, I have a rich toffee fudge that’s full of deep chocolate and toffee flavor. It’s so easy, and everyone always comes back for more!

How to Make Espresso Toffee Fudge

Making this fudge is incredibly easy to do. It only takes a few minutes of cooking in a saucepan, and that’s just about it. You’ll be in and out of the kitchen in about 30 minutes.

Step 1: Prep

Line a 9×13 baking dish with aluminum foil and set aside.

Step 3: Make the Fudge

Bring evaporated milk, sugar, butter, and espresso powder to a boil over medium low heat in a large saucepan. Cook for 10 minutes, then add the marshmallows and chocolate chips and stir until everything is melted and combined.

Step 4: Pour and Top

Pour the fudge into the prepared baking sheet and spread out in an even layer. Then, top with toffee bits and drizzle with melted chocolate melting wafers randomly.

Step 5: Cool

Let the fudge cool completely until set. Cut it into bite-sized squares, and enjoy!

Recipe Tips

  • Bring the fudge mixture to a boil over low heat. Don’t try to rush it or it won’t turn out.
  • The easiest way to melt the chocolate wafers is in the microwave.
  • Be sure you boil the fudge mixture for a full 10 minutes or it won’t set up properly.

Variations

  • You can melt milk chocolate chips, semisweet chocolate chips, or dark chocolate chips for this recipe.
  • If you’re not a fan of the coffee flavor, simply leave out the espresso powder.

What to Serve with Espresso Toffee Fudge

Fudge is a wonderful sweet snack to serve with a glass of milk for the kids or a cup of coffee or tea for the grownups. Coffee, in particular, works very well with the fudge for obvious reasons. This fudge is also wonderful when paired with fresh berries or other chocolate or toffee-based treats.

Recipe FAQ

What is espresso toffee fudge?

Espresso toffee fudge is a classic toffee fudge recipe to which espresso powder is added to create a richer, deeper flavor.

What is espresso powder?

Espresso powder is brewed espresso that has been dehydrated to produce granules that dissolve in water.

Where can I buy espresso powder?

Espresso powder might sound fancy, but it’s readily available at all big box stores and almost all grocery stores. You can also find it on Amazon.

Can different types of chocolate chips work in fudge?

Absolutely. You can use different chips to create different flavor variations based on the other ingredients in the fudge.

Does fudge need to be refrigerated?

Not only is refrigerating fudge unnecessary, but it’s also absolutely discouraged. Refrigerating fudge draws out the moisture, creating a dry, crumbly texture.

Can you freeze espresso toffee fudge?

Yes, you can. It will last for up to a month in the freezer when stored properly.
