This delicious and creamy jalapeno dip is my take on the famous Chuy’s jalapeno ranch dip. It’s super creamy, a bit spicy, and the perfect recipe for chips and to use for a topping on tacos, burritos or your favorite dish. Easy and so good!

If you’ve never had Chuy’s creamy jalapeño dip, then you’re missing out on one of the best things you’ll ever eat. It’s cool, creamy, and packed with both flavor and heat. If you don’t have a Chuy’s nearby, don’t worry. This recipe is an almost carbon copy of the original. And if you do have a Chuy’s nearby, you can still use this recipe to enjoy all the flavors you love in their dip without having to leave the house. What could be better than that? If my family is to be believed, the answer is nothing! I make this for parties and potlucks all the time or even when my kids and their family come over to visit. Whenever I make it, one thing is always the same. It goes fast!

Chuy’s Jalapeno Ranch Dip

Spicy? Check. Cool? Check. Creamy? Check. This delicious jalapeno ranch dip has everything we love in dips. It starts with sour cream and mayo to give it a super creamy, cool body. Ranch is added for a zesty flavor. Then, I roast jalapenos and add them along with seasonings to give the whole thing a big kick of flavor and heat. It’s the best dip you’ll ever have, and it’s perfect for backyard parties, game days, game nights, or any time you need a zesty dip to satisfy a crowd. Of course, you can make it for just yourself, too. I’m just saying…

Chuy’s Jalapeno Ranch Dip Variations

Usually, this is my tips and variations section. However, you’ll notice that today, I only have tips. Why? Because this recipe is just too easy. The only real tip here is this: DO NOT touch your face when working with hot peppers. Now, on to Variations.

  • For a toned-down version of this recipe, remove the seeds from the jalapeno.
  • For a hotter version of this recipe, try using roasted serrano peppers. If you really love heat, roast poblano peppers for this dip. Be careful, poblanos are 100 times hotter than a jalapeno.
  • Substitute cream cheese for mayonnaise and add shredded cheddar cheese to make jalapeno popper dip.

What to Serve with Jalapeno Ranch Dip

  • Potato chips
  • Tortilla chips
  • Pita chips

Chuy’s Jalapeno Ranch Dip FAQ

If you have questions about this recipe, then read on. The following FAQ answers the most commonly asked questions about this copycat dip.

What is Chuy’s?

Chuy’s is one of the most popular Tex-Mex restaurant chains in the country. It was started in Texas and has now expanded to almost every state in the south and the southeastern USA, along with most of the midwest, and up into part of New England, as well.

What’s in Chuy’s jalapeno ranch dip?

Pretty much exactly what’s in this copycat version. The taste is almost indistinguishable.

Are smaller jalapenos hotter than bigger ones?

That’s subjective. Jalapenos get hotter as they mature. They’re also hotter if they didn’t get enough water while they were growing. So yes, and no. A small jalapeno with no striations on the skin will probably be milder because it’s probably simply a young pepper. However, a small jalapeno with striations on the skin indicates that it’s a mature pepper that didn’t receive enough water. It will be hotter.

Is Chuy’s jalapeno ranch dip vegan?

No. It’s made with both sour cream and mayonnaise, both of which are animal-based products.

How long is jalapeno dip good in the fridge?

It will last for about a week in the refrigerator in an air-tight container.

How to Store Jalapeno Ranch Dip

Store this dip in the refrigerator for up to a week in an airtight container. Do not freeze it.

Chuy’s Jalapeno Ranch Ingredients

It only takes a few simple ingredients to make this recipe. You’ll find them all easily at your local grocery store.

  • Fresh jalapeno peppers , roasted, stem, seeds removed, if desired
  • Sour cream
  • Mayonnaise
  • Dry ranch dressing mix
  • Fresh cilantro
  • Lime juice
  • Slap Ya Mama seasoning
  • Garlic powder
  • Onion powder
  • Black pepper

How to Make Chuy’s Jalapeno Ranch Dip

This is an easy recipe to make. Even roasting the peppers is simple. In just a few simple steps you’ll have a delicious dip.

Step 1: Roast the Jalapenos

Using tongs, hold the peppers over an open flame until the skin is blistery and hot. Alternately, you can broil the jalapenos on a baking sheet lined with foil until bubbly, turning as needed for an even roast. Remove them from the oven and let them cool.

Step 2: Prepare the Jalapenos

Remove the stems when cool enough to handle. If you’re making a milder version, remove the seeds, as well. Then, dice the jalapenos.

Step 3: Make the Dip

Combine all the ingredients in a blender or Vitamix. Then, pulse until combined and creamy. Pour into a bowl and cover with plastic wrap, then chill until ready to serve.
