Cheeseburgers are a classic family meal, and sliders aren’t far behind these days! I routinely make sliders for dinner or parties, and when the weather gets warm, you’ll almost always find my guy out back grilling up cheeseburgers on the deck. I’m a huge fan of sliders because they have all the flavors of burgers in a neat little package, and I’m an equally big fan of burgers topped with a ton of melty cheese, so I put them together to create these cheeseburger sliders. They’re perfect for a fun dinner, potlucks, or your next backyard bash. They’re also super easy to make. That’s always a great plus!

Cheeseburger Sliders

These sliders start with a seasoned mix of ground beef and onions that I cook until the beef is perfectly cooked and the onions are soft. I add burger sauce to the bottoms of Hawaiian buns, then top them with American cheese, chopped pickles, the beef mixture, and more cheese to make the sliders extra cheese-tacular. I add the top buns, brush them with garlic butter and bake until the buns are golden and the cheese is both ooey AND gooey. The entire recipe only takes around 30 minutes from start to finish, and when I’m all done, I have delicious sliders that have everyone chomping at the bit for more!

How to Make Cheeseburger Sliders

Making these sliders is just as easy as getting all the ingredients together. It only takes a few minutes and a few simple steps. The most labor-intensive part of the entire recipe is cooking the ground beef, which is pretty darn easy!

Step 1: Prep

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees and lightly spray a baking sheet with non-stick cooking spray.

Step 2: Make the Burger Sauce

Mix the mayonnaise, ketchup, mustard, and dill relish in a small bowl.

Step 3: Add Burger Sauce and Cheese

Slice the Hawaiian rolls in half and place the bottom buns on the prepared baking sheet. Then, top them with half the burger sauce and 6 American cheese slices.

Step 4: Cook the Ground Beef

Cook the ground beef and onion in a large skillet or pan over medium heat until the beef is cooked through and the onions are tender. Drain the grease, return the beef to the pan, and add the seasoning. Cook for another 1 to 2 minutes.

Step 5: Finish the Sliders

Spoon the ground beef mixture over the bottom buns. Then, top with 6 more slices of American cheese. Place the top half of the rolls on top of the filling.

Step 6: Brush and Bake

Melt the butter in a small microwaveable bowl and mix in the seasonings. Then, brush the tops of the sliders with the butter mixture and bake for 20 minutes. Brush more garlic butter on the buns while hot and enjoy!

Recipe Tips for Cheeseburger Sliders

  • Drain your beef before adding it to the sliders. Even lean ground beef will release some fat while it cooks.
  • Always cook your beef over medium heat. This allows the onions to soften rather than brown while cooking the beef.
  • A silicon food brush is the best way to add the garlic herb butter to the buns.

Variations

  • Use ground beef, turkey, a beef and pork mix, chorizo, or even Italian sausage for these sliders.
  • Add red pepper flakes for a kick of flavor and heat.
  • Try mixing mushrooms into the beef and topping with Swiss for a delicious mushroom Swiss burger.
  • Sprinkle crumbled bacon over the beef mixture for bacon cheeseburger sliders.

What to Serve with Cheeseburger Sliders

Serve these classic sliders with all your favorite classic burger sides like:

  • French fries
  • Sweet potato fries
  • Home fries
  • Potato wedges
  • Seasoned fries
  • Tater tots
  • Onion rings
  • Potato chips
  • Potato salad
  • Baked beans
  • Coleslaw
  • Mac and cheese

How to Store and Reheat Leftover Cheeseburger Sliders

Let your sliders come to room temperature, then refrigerate them for up to 4 days in an airtight container. For longer storage, wrap the cooled sliders in plastic wrap, then freeze them for up to a month in an airtight, freezer-safe container.

To reheat the sliders, place them on a baking sheet, cover them with foil to prevent further browning of the buns, and bake them at 350 until heated through.
