These sliders are a great lunch, dinner, or potluck item because they’re so easy and so delicious. I love making sliders. I make all kinds, from classic burgers to BBQ, and one of my favorites is this recipe for chicken bacon ranch sliders. They’re just so delicious, and the chicken is made in the crock pot, so they’re also SO EASY. These zesty sliders are full of bold spices, cheddar cheese, shredded chicken, and bacon. And isn’t everything better with bacon? Yes. The answer is yes. Whether you want a fun family meal or need something easy to bring to a party, these sliders fit the bill!

Chicken Bacon Ranch Sliders

These delicious sliders start with chicken breasts that I slow cook with onions, seasonings, ranch mix, and chicken broth until they’re super tender. Then, I shred the chicken and mix it back into the cooking juice along with crispy bacon pieces. Finally, I toast the rolls, make the sliders, top them with melted butter, and bake until the cheese is gooey and melty and the buns are golden. It’s an easy recipe that comes together incredibly quickly once the chicken has cooked. And while the chicken is cooking, I can go on about my day with no babysitting!

How to Make Chicken Bacon Ranch sliders

Making these sliders is just as easy as shopping for the ingredients. The crock pot does most of the work, and when the chicken is done, it only takes a few minutes of prep and less than 10 minutes in the oven to make a plateful of melty, delicious sliders!

Step 1: Prep

Spray the bottom of your crock pot with non-stick cooking spray. Then, cook the bacon until crispy and set aside.

Step 2: Cook the Chicken

Add diced onion to the bottom of the crock pot and place the chicken breasts on top of them. Add the garlic powder, black pepper, and ranch seasoning, then pour in chicken brock and cover with the lid. Cook on high for 3 to 4 hours or until the chicken is completely cooked through.

Step 3: Finish the Ranch Chicken

Remove the chicken from the crock pot and shred it. Then, return it to the crock pot. Break the bacon up into small pieces and mix it into the chicken.

Step 4: Toast the Rolls

Cut the rolls in half and spread mayonnaise over the inside of the top and bottom halves. Toast them, mayonnaise side down, in a large pan over medium-high heat until browned.

Step 5: Make the Seasoned Butter

Melt the butter and stir in the Italian seasoning and garlic powder.

Step 6: Make and Bake

Place the bottoms of the rolls on a baking sheet. Then, top them with cheddar cheese slices and shredded chicken. Top with the top halves of the buns and brush them with the melted butter. Bake for 7 to 8 minutes at 350 until the cheese is melted. Drizzle with ranch dressing. Enjoy!

Recipe Tips

  • Shred the chicken as soon as you can safely handle it. Hot meat shreds much more easily than cool meat.
  • It’s important to add the onions first, so they get nice and soft.
  • Cook the bacon over medium heat so it gets nice and crispy without burning.
  • Medium-high heat is the sweet spot for toasting the buns. It gives them great color without burning them.

Variations

  • You can make this recipe with turkey breast, pork, or even beef.
  • Add pepperoncini to make Mississippi chicken sliders.
  • Use your favorite cheese for this recipe, such as Colby jack, pepper jack cheese, or Swiss cheese. They all work!

Recipe FAQ

What does chicken bacon ranch taste like?

Chicken bacon ranch is zesty and bold with prominent garlic, onion, and ranch notes. It also has a smoky, salt component thanks to the crumbled, crispy bacon.

Can you use rotisserie chicken for chicken bacon ranch sliders?

You sure can! Saute the onions until translucent, then simmer them in chicken broth with the spices and ranch until the flavors meld. Finally, continue on with the recipe as directed, adding in shredded rotisserie chicken and crumbled bacon.

What sides go well with sliders?

Sliders are a classic summer sandwich, so they pair well with all your favorite summer time sides. Try them with chips, French fries, tater tots, and classic backyard sides like potato salad, coleslaw, baked beans, and mac and cheese.

Can you make chicken bacon ranch sliders in advance?

You can make the chicken, shred it, and refrigerate it for up to a day before making the sliders. Just reheat the chicken, stir in the crumbled bacon, and continue with the recipe. Don’t make full sliders in advance, as the juice will make them soggy.

Can you freeze leftover chicken bacon ranch sliders?

These sliders can be frozen and will last for up to 2 months in the freezer. Be aware, however, that they tend to be a bit soggy, as the juice soaks into the buns as they cool and freeze.

How to Store and Reheat Leftover Chicken Bacon Ranch Sliders

Place these sliders in the fridge in an airtight container for up to 3 days. For longer storage, freeze them for up to 2 months wrapped tightly in plastic wrap and stored in an airtight, freezer-safe container. Defrost before reheating.

To reheat the sliders, place them in a baking dish, brush the tops with butter, cover, and bake at 350 until heated through.
