In a large cast-iron skillet or frying pan, cook bacon until very crispy.
Remove bacon and place on a plate lined with paper towels to absorb excess grease, and drain grease from the pan.
In a small saucepan add ½ cup of brown sugar and raspberries.
Cook for 5 minutes, stirring frequently, then remove from heat.
Add onions and jalapenos to the cast-iron skillet and cook on low until onions are translucent.
Add minced garlic and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes or until fragrant.
Add all remaining ingredients to the pan.
Reduce to low for 30-40 minutes or until sauce is a little thicker than maple syrup.
Add pepper to taste.
Tips
- Let the bacon cool before crumbling. It will break apart more easily, and you won't burn yourself!
- Stir your onion and garlic mixture continuously as you cook to keep the garlic from burning.
- Stir your sauce occasionally as it simmers to prevent sticking and scorching.
- Wash your hands thoroughly and NEVER touch your face when handling hot peppers.
